The Mobility Aids Grant Scheme is available to those who qualify. This stairlift grant covers the price of a straight and curved stairlift up to €8000. It is dependent on what funding the local authority has available and every person is means assessed. Your local authority will decide if you are eligible or not. They can pay you the full grant, or a percentage of the stairlift grant. Everything that you need to know about the grant details are detailed below. Who can apply for a stairlift grant?
Everybody can apply. The Mobility Aids Grant Scheme is available from your local council and everyone can apply, irrespective of your background, age or circumstance.
Is the stairlift grant means tested?
Yes. Every application is means tested. The Mobility Aids Grant Scheme is available to people with a household income of less than €37,500 a year and the combined income of everybody living in your home is taken into consideration.
What are the tax implications?
All your tax affairs must be in order. Evidence of this is required by the relevant councils, in the form of a tax clearance certificate for your grant application. You must include this.
Can I retrospectively fit a stairlift?
No. You cannot retrospectively fit a stairlift, before you receive written grant approval. If you do, your grant application will be cancelled. You must wait until your local authority gives you written approval of your grant allocation, before installing a new stairlift in your home.
Do I need a stairlift quotation?
Yes a stairlift quotation is required to process your grant application. What else do I need to include in my grant application?
Your grant application must include your PPS number, postal address, property tax payment, proof of household income, tax clearance certificate, doctors certificate, engineer report, OT report, stairlift quotation and a completely filled application form.
