Where it all began

17 years ago, John Lyons started as a sole trader, providing top quality mobility solutions to the people of Cork city. There was an obvious need in the marketplace in 2005 for local, professional and reliable tradesmen who genuinely cared about customers. The business was primarily involved in level access bathroom renovations, easy access ramps, safety railings and stairlifts. John listened to the needs of his customers and put together a team of top quality trades people. In 2012, the company changed from a sole trader status to a limited company and A1 Upgrades Ltd was incorporated. In 2017, the company moved away from general mobility solutions to specialise solely on stairlifts. The trading name of the company was changed to A1 Upgrades Limited trading as Cork Stairlifts. In 2019, Cork Stairlifts achieved ISO 9001 certification, the first stairlift company in Ireland to do so. ISO is an industry standard quality mark that ensures Cork Stairlifts conducts it’s business in the most professional manner adhering to all government, industry and manufacturing guidelines.

Our vision is to continue to deliver outstanding customer service in the supply, maintenance and repair of top quality stairlifts. To do this, we must always have an excellent back-up service and top class after care. Every day we strive to achieve that. We will constantly measure customer satisfaction and where necessary, make improvements. We need to have a greater understanding of our customer’s needs and expectations. Above all, we must understand the importance of relationship management between customers, suppliers and employees.

We listen to our customers and tailor our services to suit their individual needs. Ultimately, we will provide you with for the perfect stairlift solution. This doesn’t mean we pressure you into buying or renting from us. We just want you to have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

We also guarantee peace of mind. Over the past 17 years, our stairlifts have proved to be most reliable and hard-wearing because our top-quality motors are designed to last 10 years plus. And we put all that down in writing. Our written contracts state that “we will stand over your new stairlift for your entire lifetime”. That’s real peace of mind.

Our engineers are fully qualified and experienced in stairlift installations, servicing and breakdowns. We are sensitive to the needs of our customers, so we make your choice, delivery and installation as easy as possible. After your stairlift has been installed, you will receive a personal guide in the use and care of your stairlift. And we will follow up with you after installation to ensure everything runs smoothly. We will call back to double check that everything is to your satisfaction and that you are 100% happy with your new stairlift.

The Company has grown from strength to strength – we are authorised dealers for Acorn, Platinum, Thyssen, Access and Bruno Stairlifts and this is expanding. We are ISO 9001 certified, the first stairlift company to do so in Ireland.
